About Us

My name is Gabriel Pereira and I'm the owner of Enzo & Ziti.  My interest in calligraphy started several decades ago when I was forced to use a fountain pen as a child by one of my teachers in an effort to cure my ham fisted attempts at Palmer cursive writing.  At first it was a very negative experience as I wrestled daily with the pen, but over time a humiliating experience became a challenge and eventually an obsession.  I started collecting fountain pens and practicing handwriting and pointed pen calligraphy religiously over the years.  I've been enjoying myself so much as an amateur, and receiving so much encouragement from acquaintances, friends and family, it seemed natural to begin a part-time professional calligraphy practice.

Regardless of my reasons for starting a calligraphy business, you may be asking yourself "What do dogs and calligraphy have to do with one another?"  Well...absolutely nothing.  The name Enzo & Ziti was orignally reserved for an online pet supplies site that unfortunately never materialized.  So rather than waste a perfectly lovely and catchy name, plus $35.99 in domain registration fees, I shoehorned the trademark to fit my needs.  Besides, how can you resist these guys?

If you haven't already guessed, that handsome fellow in the photograph above is Enzo, our retired racing greyhound.  He is sweet as pie and as lazy as a sloth, preferring to sleep on the couch 24/7.  If he could avoid getting up to eat and go to the bathroom, we believe he would.

I can't say enough positive things about adopting one of these dogs as they are the near perfect low maintenance companion animal - I encourage you to check out an adoption agency in your area:

Ziti on the other hand is nothing short of frenetic.  Found as a stray wandering the streets of Staten Island, Ziti has lived up to every Jack Russell stereotype.  3 hours of chasing squirrels, rolling in poop, barking at dump trucks, biting pant legs, and running aimlessly in circles, and she is still ready to play ball, bark at the neighbor's cat and eat my pens when she returns home.  Nevertheless, she's a clown who always makes us laugh no matter how bad and exasperating our day might be.

Ziti came to us courtesy of the North Shore Animal League the world's largest no-kill shelter.
